Nicola Aporti

Italian-qualified lawyer currently based in Luxembourg.

Nicola studied in Italy, getting his law degree at the University of Ferrara, with spells spent in France (Erasmus) and Australia (research for graduation thesis at the University of Sydney).

After completing the bar admission in Italy, his passion for traveling brought him to China, where he moved in 2006, taking a sabbatical year to study Chinese at the Shanghai International Studies University. Nicola remained in China for about 15 years, continuing his legal career at a Shanghai-based French law firm, then in a boutique legal project management firm, and finally in a Chinese law firm where he expanded the corporate law and the food regulatory practice, ultimately being elevated to partner.

The passion for food brought Nicola deeply into the world of food regulations, and therefore more in touch with food industry institutions (since 2017 he was a Visiting Lecturer for Food Laws in China course at the Michigan State University). In China, he cooperated with several international food companies until 2020 when he joined Ferrero, thus returning to the EU with his family.

He speaks English, French, and Chinese and is trying to learn Japanese.
